Men's Rosary

I remember it being a bit of a struggle developing a real devotion to Our Lady. Growing up as a Methodist, we recognized Her and respected Her, but there were no real Marian devotions to speak of.

I am glad I persevered in my efforts! Devotion to Mary brings uncounted graces and gets our petitions and concerns to Jesus most expeditiously. Meditating on Mary’s life also brings us to a better understanding Jesus.

I came to the conclusion that the best way to get know someone you wish to know for the first time or at a deeper level is to go to someone you know that knows that person better than you or anyone else.

With Jesus being the Son of Mary, who better to go to than Her? She knows Jesus better than any human being. She shares his heart. And as we know, men always have a place of honor in the lives for their mothers. We will always listen to what they say, and so the more does Jesus listen to His Mother.

We should go to Mary with our needs and ask Her to intercede to Jesus for us. We should meditate on Her life and role in salvation and try to imitate Her humility and obedience.

Maybe try to meditate for fifteen minutes one day this coming week on the “Wedding Feast at Cana”. The fruit of that mystery of the Rosary is “to Jesus through Mary”. Go to Mary and spend some time. After all, a Mother knows best!
