We know that Mary pondered all things in Her heart. She was never quick to judge or assume She understood things. It seems it was more important to try to fully understand what God was calling Her to do and what His will was.
For me, Mary is the perfect model for prayer. She gives the perfect example of mental prayer…the the prayer of quiet reflection. We need to be still and listen to God. God is always heard in the quiet and stillness. If we do not make room for this in our lives we will not hear God very well, if at all.
The Rosary is an incredible prayer in that it is literally PONDERING the life of Christ. The Blessed Mother gave us this prayer and in our praying it we join with Her in pondering these things. I feel as if She is right there praying with me!
The Rosary can be an incredible way to enter into quiet, mental prayer. Even if only one decade! It places us in a place of reflection and predisposes us to being still and quiet. This is a great time to be quietly in God’s presence. I like to pray the Rosary to begin a Holy Hour, but even to sit quietly in prayer for 15 minutes will provide much grace in our lives.
So, may we look to Our Mother, for how to pray well and ask for Her intercession for us. We can invoke her and the saints every time we pray. Jesus told us… “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them”. Matthew 18:20
