What we do matters

I hear more and more about claims to one’s own truth, personal realities if you will. Relativism runs rampant. The saddest thing I think I here is when someone says that as long as what they do privately does not hurt anyone it is fine.

Well, it is not fine. What we do affects everyone, in a good or bad way. That really is the whole idea of sin. We all suffer the effects of original sin and our sins continue to affect others. But this works in the opposite way as well. Our good deeds will do the same.

So, the point I make is that we as men should be very aware of our actions. We need to be aware of what we are doing and how it will affect the greater scheme of things. Our sins and shortcomings hurt us and those around us. Our good actions do the same. The ultimate good we can do for each other is to pray. A prayer life is a gift to ourselves and those around us. While it may not be seen, it produces much good.

Be seen or not seen, what we do matters. I hope we can all be aware of others and how our actions and inactions, good works or sinful ways, prayer or lack thereof, has a major impact on the world.

It is really a matter of integrity.

“Day by day, what you choose, what you think, and what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny…it is the light that guides your way” Heraclitus

Let us choose God, think of what our Saints have done, do good to and for others and pray earnestly. And let Christ be the light that guides our way.
