It seems to me that challenges will always be a part of earthly life. Nothing about living here is going to be easy. We may have some joyful moments and pleasure but the reality is that life is hard.
So this led me to think about and ask the question, if a person does not have faith and a relationship with God how can they have any hope? My answer to the question is… they can’t! It seems very clear just by looking at depression and suicide rates.
When we put our trust in things of this world to bring us peace and happiness we are putting our trust in this world. But this world is temporary and fleeting. In reality it is hopeless. So this would lead to having a hopeless life.
True hope can only be found in the Lord. “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. (Psalm 124:8 – 125:1)
So we must be careful of where we place our hope. We must be rooted in prayer and trust in God. It is too easy to be lured into things of this world. The best thing we can do is to resist the world and seek the things of God. We are not to worry about what to eat, drink or wear because God knows what we need. We are to simply hope and trust in Him. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.” (Matthew 6:33-34)
As men we need to stay close to God. “Every day, as long as today lasts, keep ecouraging one another.” (Hebrews 3:13) We should stand together with Christ and help one another be focused on the things of God and not the things of this world.
